Rising Sign (Ascendant)

Also called the ascendant, your rising sign is set by the sky's rotation at the specific moment and location you were born. Because the sky turns a full 360° every 24 hours, the rising sign changes roughly every two hours -- so unlike your sun sign, it depends on your birth time down to the hour or so, not just your birth date.

That precision is exactly what makes it a deeper, more personal placement: two people born on the same day in the same city, twelve hours apart, will typically have different rising signs even though they share a sun sign.
