Sun Sign
The zodiac sign the Sun was in on your date of birth -- the sign nearly everyone means when they ask "what's your sign?"
Your sun sign is determined purely by your birth date: the Sun moves through all twelve zodiac signs over the course of a year, spending roughly a month in each, so the day you were born places the Sun in exactly one of them.
Because it only depends on date (not time or location), it's the easiest placement to calculate, and it's what every general daily horoscope -- including the ones on this site -- is written for.
