Synodic Month
The roughly 29.5-day cycle from one New Moon to the next -- the basis for the Moon phase cycle.
A synodic month measures the Moon's cycle relative to the Sun -- new to full and back to new again -- and takes about 29.5 days. That's slightly longer than the Moon's actual orbital period around Earth (about 27.3 days, called a sidereal month), because Earth is also moving around the Sun during that time, which shifts the angle slightly each cycle and adds a couple of extra days before the Sun-Moon alignment repeats.
