Where a planet is positioned right now, as opposed to where it was at a specific past moment like your birth.
A transit is simply a planet's current, real-time position against the zodiac. When astrologers say "Mercury is in Virgo" or "Venus is squaring Saturn," they're describing transits -- the ongoing, ever-changing positions of the Sun, Moon, and planets as they move through the twelve signs.
